Johnson was a trifle worried during his talk.explaining that he had left his umbrella somewhere). There were those who* didn't quite understand but assumed that it was all right.
Others discussing resolutions were: Captain Gaines, Sales Tax; M r. Kemper, Forestry; M r. Campbell, Gas Tax and Mr. Wheatlcv, the Water Situation.
Mr. Ramey brought to the attention of ' those attending the meeting a serious problem that had not been previously considered by the Virginia Farm Bureau.i.e. Drivers of Emergency Vehicles. He described in detail a careening ambulance, patient inside, that passed him three times on the road from Warrenton to Charlottes*ville. Mr. Ramey suggested that drivers of emergency vehicles be more carefully selected.
All of the Legislators gave their undivided attention to all that was said and agreement apparently existed on the sales tax, forestry', education and water conservation.
There was a difference .of opinion as to how the refund on gas for farm use was to be handled. The question: should the farmer have three, four or twelve months to put in his bill? The four month period seemed to be favored by the majority, but there were no positive commitments by members of the Assembly.
An excellent dinner preceedetl the “get-together” at the “grassroots level” and everybody seemed to be interested and to be having a good rime.
