Legislators from Northern Virginia and Fanil Bureau Members of the Third District met January 6th at Warrenton for a “grassroots” discussion of the many problems the farmers of Virginia are asking the members of the Virginia General Assembly to consider when they meet for their 60-day gj%0 session.
Farm Bureau members felt that such a meeting would be most helpful.promote a better understanding. They re-affirmed their belief that “NO representative fonn of Government can function successfully for long unless those who are elected to public office are willing..and ABLE. to accept and discharge their responsibilities courageously and.. INTELLIGENTLY.”
For the information and convenience of the Legislators, (nine wens in attendance) a special booklet containing Farm Bureau Policies had been prepared, with the hope that the Legislators would keep them in their vest pockets and refer to them frequently.
R. M. Ramey of Marshall, a director from the Third District, was chairman of the meeting and discussed briefly a number of farm problems. Others discussing resolutions passed at the State .Convention in Roanoke were C. E. Mrs. Sarah Laham went to Richmond Friday to attend a twoday meeting of the Virginia Press Association at the Jefferson Hotel.
Friday morning Mrs. Latham attended a press conference with Governor Almond in the Senate chamber of the Capitol _jftid was a luncheon guest of Governor and Mrs. Almond at the Executive Mansion.
