William J. Jefferson
■William Jackson Jefferson, a native and resident of Sperryville, died at his residence early Wednesday morning, January 6, after several years of declining health. Son of th^liate Owen and Belle Atkins Jefferson pf Rappahannock County, Mr. Jefferson was a veteran of the Spanish-American War. He was 83.
He irsurvived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Brown Jefferson of Sperryville; one sister, Mrs. Mary Jefferson Clater of Sperryville; one step-son, William Brown of Manassas; one niece and four nephews. ,
A funeral service was held, Friday, January 8 at 2 p.m. from the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville with the pastor, Rev. H. E. Nicholson officiating. Interment followed in the family section of Sperryville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were 'Ennis Brown, James Smith, Frank Atkins, Elmer Atkins, G. M. Black, Roy B. Leake, Roxie Clater, Clyde Atkins and Robert Brown.
Services were conducted by Geest Funeral Parlors.
