Was in Culpeper and Front Royal both today, but it wasn’t too bad. That’s what I get for playing hookey Friday.
Have you noticed the beautiful new barn the Greenaways have built on their farm to replace the one which burned last year? It is out of this world!
Jack Racer came by the office this morning. He said he had recently been for a check-up at Blue Ridge and the report he received was just real good news, he is doing fine.
Certainly did enjoy talking to Bucky Fletcher at Oliver and Emily’s Saturday. She adores St. •Catherines. Said she had just been to see “Skin Of My Teeth” which was wonderful, but the same night or at least in the wee hours of the morning they called a fire drill, just when everyone was sleeping so peacefully. Oh well, Bucky its all in a lifetime. Kathy, Louise, Bill and §tuart were also at the Durant’s Saturday. Stuart had a doll taller than she was. Mrs. Muth was there with Mr. Muth. She is feeling so much better and really looks wonderful. It was such a nice party and the “two roasted pigs were delicious.
Certainly hate to pass this bad news On to the ladies, but we received a notice to the effect that because of the illness of the owner of the “Little England Daffodil Farm in Gloucester, they are discontinuing the business. The formal gardens will also be closed. What a pity, but think of the thousands of people who are enjoying and will continue to enjoy the bulbs from the farm.
Julia Wood told me in Culpeper today to male this Tetter good. Julia, I just couldn’t hear a bit of “spicy” news, sorry.
When I was in Richmond last week the apple japonica was just about out. I brought some home that Virginia Brent gave me. It is in full bloom now and looks so pretty and "springy”, really makes you feel good.
