\l. (I rus question is intended to be answered by women only.)
A proposed “Equal Rights” Ammendment to the U. S. Constitution would prohibit discrimination against women. It has been pointed out that such an amendment would* invalidate legal distinctions claimed to be for the benefit of women, such as anti-sweatshop laws regulating hours of women’s employment, and laws making jury service by women voluntary, giving women a lower qualifying age for social security benefits, and placing responsibility for family support on the husband. Proponents of the Amendment contend, however, that women no longer need or want such protective legislation, but want their equality spelled out in the Constitution. Do you favor the proposed Constitutional Amendment? Yes 1,345; No 2,257.
