Rev. Harold Carder
Accepts Pastorate
Rev. Harold F. Carder of Culpeper, Va., has been made full time pastor for Chester Gap Baptist Mission by Shioh Baptist As-' sociation which sponsors the mission work at Chester Gap. Rev. Carder has been serving the mission on an interim basis since September, 1959 when the previous pastor, Rev. J. S. Graver resigned to accept a pastorate in Albemarle County.
A native of Culpeper County, Rev. Carder received his education for the ministry at the University of Richmond and Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia from which he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also studied at Union Theological Seminary in Virginia at Richmond.
Mrs. Carder, the former Miss Anne Latham of Amisgdlle, also assists in the work as organist and Sunday School teacher. They have two small daughters, Jennifer and Beverly. For the present Rev. Carder and family will continue to live in Culpeper.
Chester Gap Baptist Mission was organized in 1958 by Shiloh Baptist Association under the direction of Rev. J. S. Graver. It meets at present in Mr. Elmer Hickerson’s store bulding the use of which Mr. Hickerson has given, rent free, since the beginning of the Mission. Mrs. Herman Williams serves as a Sunday School teacher and Mrs. Nora Sealock is Mission Treasurer. Jimmy Williams is the Secretary.
