Fourth In League
The Rappahannock girls basketball team of Rappahannock County High School placed fourth in the District Nine league. They were defeated Thursday night on the George Mason court in the tournament play off by George Mason who went on to win the number one spot in the league over the favored Marshall team which was undefeated until that time.
Shirley Smoot, a guard for the Rappahannock Pantherettes, has been the backbone of the team throughout the season. Her speed, rebounding and determination have ^rr<6de her an outstanding player this year.
George Mason boys also captured first place in the league. The Rappahannock boys did not make the tournament.
