Safety Award
Employees of the Potomac Edison System chalked up the safest year in PE history last year, according to figures released thfis month by Raymond E. Beard, Safety Supervisor.
With 11 lost-time accidents suffered last year, employees recorded 4 42 percent reduction in losttime accidents over 1958 and the amazing figure of an 83 percent reduction over 1950.
Five of the System’s 11 major operating districts completed the year without a lost-time accident. Wincheser, Waynesboro, Martinsburg, Romney and Luray districts recorded a clean slate in 1959.
PE’s Substantiation and Communications Department, with divisions at Frederick, Hagerstown, Cumberland and Front Royal, again came through the rear without a lost-time accident, and once again captured PE’s Inter-Department Safety Trophy.
