Rev. Stalter To Be Honored

At Reception In Amissville

A reception will be held Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Amissville Methodist Church in honor of Rev. Ralph Stalter, who is assuming duties as the pastor of the Little Fork Methodist Charge. The community is invited to attend.

Rev. Stalter came to Little Fork Charge from Petersburg District. He was pastor of East Dinwiddie Charge for four years. He has one son and they will live in the parsonage at Jeffersonton.

E. M. Jones To Head

Apple Institute

The National Apple Institute has expanded its name to The National Apple Institute, the Apple Growers of America.

E. M. “Ned” Jones of Washington, Va., head of the Virginia State Apple Commission was elected president of the Institute, which wound up its annual meeting on June 24. A budget of $130,000 for the coming year was adopted.

At the meeting of the Institute, an official of the Appalachian Apple Service called for a sounder, basis for apple marketing through research. The apple men got some disturbing news from L. W. Brown of Winchester, president of the Processed Apple Institute, who said the demand for processed apple products this year might lag 5 to 10 per cent below last year’s market.
