County Library Gets
New Roof
The new roof on the Rappahannock Library has been completed* and folks are happy to see the bright red paint shining in the sun these days.
Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the library, says this is only the first step in the restoration of the building to make it usable as a public library. Funds must be found to improve the building with heat, plumbing , electric wiring, new flooring, etc. An estimated $ 10,000 is needed to complete the job and this week the friends of the library start their drive to raise the funds so that the work may continue. Contributions may be sent to Mrs. Virginia Miller, Treasurer, at Washington, Va.
Mrs. Johnson also reported that the Washington, D. C. Evening Star has become interested in this community' venture and a feature story' appeared Monday, July 25, in the Star.
