Red Cross Holds .
Monthly Meeting
Wednesday, July 13 the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Fauquier Chapter of the Red Cross was held in the Chapter rooms in Warrenton, with the following members present: Mrs. Frederik Wachtmeister, Mrs. James Hibbard, Mrs. Snyder, Gen. Lemuel Shepherd, Mr. Harry Gray, Mr. J. M. O’Connell, Mr. Isham Keith, Mrs. John Cutting, Mrs. Joseph Norman, Rev. Saunders, Mrs. J. O. Hodgkin, III, Mrs. Alyce Russell, Mrs. Jason Paige and Mrs. Mallory Nash.
Mr. J. M. O’Connell gave the treasurer’s report for the previous three months, excluding the figures for the recent Fund Drive, but including the total amount of $842.52 received for Chilean Relief. A motion was passed that memorial gifts to the Red Cross be put in a special fund to be spent on Red Cross’ needs of a permanent nature.
Mr. Harry Gray in his report of the Fund Drive, expressed his satisfaction over the success of the drive, particularly in regard to the splendid work ’done by the 16 vicechairmen and about 200 workers. Bad weather in March gave us a slow start, but the quota was exceeded. and Mr. Gray felt that the inovations in this year’s campaign were responsible for putting the chapter over the top. Mr. Gray was given a rising vote of thanks. General Shepherd will be joint chairman with Mr. Gray in next year's campaign.
Reports were given for the Blood Program, Home Service, Water Safety' and the Grey Ladies Service. In the latter, Mrs.Norman annountcd that plans are being made to extend this service to the District Nursing Home in the autumn.
Other Red Cross business included discussion of improvements in the chapter rooms.
