“The Federal social security system came to the American people 25 years ago, and during the past two decades monthly benefit payments have gone into millions of American homes.” This statement was made by Miss Florence Schaffner, Field Representative of the Alexandria Social Security Office, in announcing the approaching anniversary of the Social Security Act.
Miss Schaffrier stated that this Silver Anniversary marks a fullgrown program' providing protection against loss of income because of retirement, disability and death. More than 90 per cent of the workers in Ameiica have protection for their families and themselves through the social security program.
