Realizing the urgent need for a closer relationship between the parents and teachers in working cooperately to secure the highest educational advantages for every child "'from the aspect of their physical, mental and social behavior, the Carver PTA held a re-organizational meeting ‘Wednesday night, October 26. This meeting followed a period of one year inactivity. However, judging from the enthusiasm that was shown among the approximate 55 persons in attendance, there is a reason to believe that real progress will be made this year.
The officers elected to serve for 1960-61 were: Gerald Jennings, president; William Turner, vice President; Miss Pauline Reavis, secretary; Mrs. Mary Alexander, assistant secretary; James Avery, treasurer; James Long, chaplain; and F. W. Nichols, reporter. The officers were installed by Harry Payne.
The president appointed the following committees: Hospitality, Bobby Crossling, Miss Viola Harding, Miss (Elizabeth Adams and Miss Lillie Mae Walters.
Planning, H. A. Collins, Mrs. Carrie Michie, Thomas Price, Mrs. Stella Fincham, James Gilliam and Ernest Tansimore.
Membership, Mrs. Viola Turner, Mrs. Thelma Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Long, Mrs. Mary Alexander. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lindsay, Mrs. Carlton Lewis, Mrs. Ethel Greene, Mrs. Agnes Jackson, Mrs. Mary Carpenter and Henry G. Payne. Each home room teacher was asked to serve on this committee.
It was with the consent of the members present that the IT A would discontinue the old policy of meeting once each six weeks and commence meeting monthly. The meetings will be held at the Carver High School on the fourth Wed
