The Shiloh Baptist Association met, in Stevensbur'g, Va. August 9 and 10. Messengers from Washington Baptist Church were Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Updike, Mrs. B. R. Cox and Mrs. Cora P. Lillard, E. M. Jones, Moderator of the Association, accompanied by his family, attended both days.
Mrs. B. R. Cox had as her guests Sunday evening, Mrs. B. M. Miller, Mrs. Morgan Johnston and daughter Carolyn, Miss Ruth Stevens to attend the play, the re-enactment of the Trial of John Brown, held in the courthouse at Ch arlestown, W. Va. where he was actually tried and convicted in 1859. His pallet, cell, and manacles were properties in the play.
Mr. John Leonard, who played the part of John Brown, is a retired Marine Officer and was eight months growing the beard and hair for the impersonation.
Mr. Bushong, a retired attorney, was outstanding as the prosecuting attorney in the case.
Mrs. Cox and her guests were supper guests of Mrs. Mary M. Browse and Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell Davis in Charlestown.
Phi Psi fraternity brothers visiting George H. Davis, III over the weekend were Charles Mabon of New York City and Winston Kaminer of Columbia, S. C.
