This is the first of two articles by Rev. Warren Wilbur on his travels during his vacation to the great Southwest.

We live in a magnificent nation that is divided into geographic sections. Each section has its own unique heritage. This 1 am rediscovering on my trip to the Southwest and invite you to explore the area with me.
The first thing I notice as I pull into my home, the West Twin Ranch, Miami, Oklahoma, is a life-size replica of a Texas Longhorn. This statue is in memory of my great-grandfather who’ trail d rove the Texas Longhorn from central Texas to Baxter Spring, Kan., the first town in the Southwest to ship cattle via railroad to Kansas City. Few people remember this was a busy cow town before Wyatt Earp’s Dodge City was a wide place in the road.
