Teaching At Carver
Williaih M. Smith, a native of Essex County, a graduate of the Saint Claire Walker High School in Middlesex County is now doing his Directed Teaching at Carver Regional High School. Smith has been in the area for approximately three weeks and will continue his work in the area for an additional six weeks. y
The agriculture department feels that with the enthusiasm, interest, willingness to work, and ambitions he will make an outstanding teacher in Vocational Agriculture. His greatest interests are centered around farm youth and farm shop.
The first few weeks are geared toward observation of the agriculture program and its facilities. Afterwards he will begin teaching the lower grades and gradually move to the upper grades
He is enrolled at Virginia State College, Petersburg, Va. where he is also pursuing a course in music appreciation. Smith is an athlete in his right and enjoys such activities. He was a member of the college wrestling team. IHe is a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. After graduation he will be commissioned second Lt. in the Quartermaster Corps.
