Full-scale operations began this, week on a 181 million dollar highway construction program which has been slowed down by winter weather since November, the State Highway Department reported today.
From November to April 1, road work has to be curtailed, but grading and paving that do not interfere with traffic are continued if the weather is favorable.
Most of the current construction is on the interstate system, where 227 miles of new road and 220 bridges are being built at a costj of nearly 134 million dollars.
Construction on the primary system will total about 30 million dollars. Federal-aid projects on secondary roads will total nearly 9; million- dollars, and federal-aid urban projects will come to more than 8 million dollars.
