Raymond Wire Dies Following Long Illness
Charles Raymond Wire, 62, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Washington, Va., prominent in real estate circles, died at Georgetown University Hospital at 3:15 a.m., March 13, 1963, after a prolonged illness of cancer.
He was born at Poolesville. Maryland, 1901, finished Tech ■High School in three years in 1921, graduated from Lehigh University in 1925 in civil engineering where he was highest honor man and preseident of the honorary engineering fraternity, Tau Beta Phi, and also a member of Phi Epsilon.
Mr. Wire became associated with his father in real estate, building churches and homes. He designed and completed the construction of Blagden Park, a fine residential section of Washington.
During World War II he served as colonel with the office of the Inspector General of the United States Army. After the war he resumed building activities in private and commercial properties.
Mr. Wire was a member of the University Club and the Congressional Country Club of Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, | Minnie Lee Williams Wire, of 3911 Bradley Lane, Chevy Chase, Maryland, and by twin daughter, Ramona Wire of Chevy Chase and Rosemary Wire Anderson of Silver Spring. Maryland. Hia mother, Mrs. Charles E. Wire, of Pinehurst, North Carolina, a sister, i Mrs. Ester Walper of PineJ hurst, and two brothers, C. E. Wire, Jr. of Pinehurst, and Marvin M. Wire of Atlanta, Georgia, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at Gawler’s Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Cancer Foundation.
