With the month of March, Red Cross annual Fund Drive month well on its way, this can serve as a grateful acknowledgment to those who have contributed and a reminder to others to do so. The slogan “Always there, with your help" means just that. Anyone having been in a disaster area knows that the Red Cross was there. We all think disaster won't strike here, fut with our family and other loved ones scattered all over the world as they are, it is a comfort to know that in such an event, the Red Cross is there to alleviate suffering and want. Those having members of their family in the armed forces know that the Red Cross acts as liaison agency between the service man's family and the military. And anyone who has had reason to summon a service man home in times of illness or other trouble in the family knows ‘ how quickly and efficiently the Red Cross acts. Most people are familiar with the all important Blood Program. The primary objective of the Blood Program always has been to make blood available free not only to large metropolitan medical centers but also to small rural hospitals with no blood banks of their own and no other source of blood. To achieve this objective, the Red Cross has carried the program to the people who live in small rural communities, giving them an opportunity to participate as donors and offering to their hospital a variety of blood
