Bill Lyne of Washington, Virginia got away out on cloud nine last week; a paragraph in the February issue of The Chase was devoted to one of his foxhounds! In the report of the Tidewater Field Trials, held last September, his eyes bulged and his heart skipped a beat when he read; “It was then that I saw Bill Lyne’s little hound do a beautiful piece of running. The fox came out, ran down a sand road, turned into the marsh on the other side. This little gyp of his tracked the fox down the road by herself giving free tongue. Some cried babbling, but there was the fresh fox track. She was right. The pack soon backed her up and they were away in a rush.* Bill says he has long considered her (Folly) his best track hound, but didn’t know she could follow a line down a dusty, heavily traveled road. Exhaust fumes seemingly obliterate scent. By the time Bill finished reading The Chase he was about in orbit! Three of Folly’s half sisters and brothers had won, or placed in other stakes.
