Rappahannock County is becoming familiar territory to the members of Boy Scout Troop #821 of Falls Church, Virginia. They have made several trips to this area and have enjoyed the beauty of the Blue Ridge country while earning their merit badges in various outdoor activities. Saturday, March 2, fourteen boys filled their conservation work requirement by working on a road used for fire prevention activities. They worked under the dir. ection of Forest Wsfdm Raymond Johnson. The boys cleared about a mile and a i half of road, which called
j for some strenuous activity. ! The road was covered with j brush and fallen trees which required sharp axes and team effort to remove. The boys participating were: Bryan Horne, Harold Ricks, HenryHubben,Jimmy' Manwaring, Joel Burnham, Joseph Bye, Donald Ricks,' Danny Oliver, Richard Stevens, David Babbel, Kirk Rector, Rusty Fuerst, Warren Abbott and Steve Wilkinson. They were under the supervision of Scoutmasters Frank Ferranti, Richard Chess and Allan Dickson. About a month ago this same Boy Scout troop plus several younger Guide Scouts hiked to the fire station atop Red Oak Mountain. After a long trek in heavy fog they were entertained at the home of the H. Laurence Manwarings, Red Oak Ranch, near Woodville.
