In Class I-A until his eligibility for some other classification is established to the satisfaction of the local board. If a registrant does not establish his eligibility for deferment or exemption because of hardship, occupation, study. Reserve of National Guard membership or some other reason, he is placed in I-A. Local Boards are now class ifying uie men born in 1942. In the normal case, a registrant on I-A will h»e ordered for Armed Forces Physical Examination shortly before his time to enter service, to determine whether he is qualified physically, men' tally and morally. Local Boards are now sending for physical examination men born in 1940. If he is not qualified on examination, he is deferred in Class IV-F of I-Y. If qualified, he is kept in I-A until reached for induction* Local Boards are now inducting men born in 1939. Class I-Y means that the registrant is not qualified under current standards but would be qualified in war or an emergency. Class IV-F means he is not quallfiedfor any military service. Classification of registrants is done by the Local Board members at the regular board meetings, and made on the written evidence
