Mrs. Frank Cary, Flint Hill and Mrs. James F. Smith of _ Sperryville have been named to head a special “lifesaving task force* in the April Cancer Crusade. Appointment of Mrs. Cary and Mrs. Smith as co-chairmen of the local “Tell Your Neighbor* Committee was announced by Judge John D. Buck 1964 Crusade Chairman of the American Cancer Society. "Tell Your Neighbor* is the slogan for an accelerated effort by the American Cancer Society nationally to put more life-saving education into American homes. Judge Buck said: "This is an intensification of the traditional education phase erf the Society’s annual fund-raising campaign, held each April. The education part of the drive emphasizes individual responsibility in cancer control. "Half of today’s cancers are curable when they are detected early, diagnosed promptly and treated Immediately, Therefore, the bais for selfprotection is early detection. During the Crusade, we hope to blanket the area with the essential information that yill tell people what to look for and how to protect themselves and their families. Each Crusader will be identified with the ACS volunteer badge, Judge Buck said, and will leave with every family a copy of an educational leaflet titled “The Answers To These Questions May Help Save Your Life.* The leaflet explains how people can best protect themselves against cancer, des. cribes signs and symptoms, tells what kind of cancer is mounting most rapidly, which are the worst killers, and briefly covers some recent i2ie«fore I ha medicll advances against the disease.
