A four day carnival with activities of special interest each night is planned by the Washington Volunteer Fire Company and Rappahannock Rescue Squad beginning Wednesday, June 24 through Saturday 27th on the carnival grounds on highway 211 and 522 between Old Mill Snack Bar and Lake Motel. The Carnival Committee reports that some rides have arrived at the grounds and work goes on in preparation for the opening on Wednesday night when the Carnival Queen will be crowned. Committee officials also report that work is being done on the 1914 La France Brockway Torpedo Fire Truck, affectionately known as “Old Brock* in hopes that once again it can take its place in the parade to delight the hearts of young and old. The parade, as in former years, will be routed from the Elementary School, up Mount Salem Avenue, turning right on Gay Street, right again on Route 211 and proceeding to the Carnival grounds.
