Miss Annie Miller Almond] Washington, Va., has retired after 23 years of teaching in Virginia schools, mostly in elementary grades. For the past 15 years she has taught at Floris Elementary school in Fairfax County. In recalling the past, Miss Almond said her first position was here in her home town, and two of her first students were Clifford Woodard and the late Downing Wood, both of Washington. Following this she was employed in a supervisory capacity for a year and traveled to schools throughout thecoun ty by horse and buggy in all kinds of weather. Other schools where she taught were Reager at Huntly and Flint Hill which are now closed and at Holland in Nanse. mond County. Miss Almond taught only one year of high school which was in Lawrenceville, Brunswick County. During her year there she roomed at the home ot C. B. Palmer’s parents. It is a singular incident that C. B. Palmer, who was then a little boy, later came to Rappahannock to teach and still lives here. Upon her retirement from Floris School, two shrubs,
