• Hi...Its really nice to be back on the job! Our schooling was rugged but excellent. The week-end of the 13th we 'had a test to do that required from six |to twelve hours. The final exam took four hours more or less. The economists jargon was almost like listening to someone speak a foreign language but we had to catch on. These fellows have their way of talking, the same as the cattleman or any other type of farmer. We did budget after budget on dairy cows, steers, poultry, crops and pasture, machinery, hogs, etc, also, farm record analysis. We learned that the cheap est way to produce seldom is the most profitable. Methods, as far as possible, were based on research findings (facts). We'll never have all the research needed but do have many facts which can be applied In helping farmers calculate optimum levels of production and to make sound business decisions.

The farmer constantly has to make these business decisions no matter whether they be $10.00 decisions or $10,000 decisions. All are difficult In varying degrees and will continue to be as he must make knotty predictions, deal with human beings In a dynamic economy and with life, no matter whether It be animal or plant, whose biological processes are variable. For example no two people, farms, seasons, animals, etc. etc. are exactly alike and their performance varies from year > to year. We learned how to calculate optimum levels of production and maximize profit as closely is these facts and variations will allow.
