Judson Hockman, Director of the 1964 Christmas Festival in Front Royal, announced today that plans for the 1964 Christmas Festival are jelling and that this year’s Week End Festival should prove to be a most delightful one, for children as well as adults. An Old Fashioned Christmas atmosphere will prevail on the Streets of Front Royal during the big event (December 3rd, 4th, & 5th). Main Street will be blocked off affecting a “Shopping Mall", and allowing safety for shoppers and their children. The “Santa Welcc>ming parade" will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3rd. Units will line up on Water Street and in thfe I.G.A. Parking lot. The parade will move South on Water Street to Main Street, turn right on Main moving West to Royal Avenue. It will turn right on North Royal and move North to 2nd St. where it will turn right again and continue on 2nd Street to the Constitution Oak Plaza. At this point, it will disband. Stores will close for the parade, and open immediately following until 10:00 p.m. Santa will talk to'children from a raised platform centered on Main Street and candy will be distributed at this point. Among the dignitaries in the parade will be Mayor William A. Lillard, Town Manager Walter M. Duncan, Chief of Police Charles Menefee, Sheriff Gary T. Keyser, Town Councilmen; Dennis P. McCarty, A. Statton Hammock, Paul R. Hockman and Bernard L. Stokes; President of the Chanjber of Commerce Edwin H. Harper, and Executive Vice President of the Chamber, Douglas T. Smith.
