Social Security Notes

Many farmers in this county lose valuable social security credit, according to Mrs. Hazel F. Daly, district manager for social security in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Daly said these are farmers who do not file income tax and self-employment reports on their farm earnings. Mrs. Daly pointed out that Federal law requires farmers who clear at least $400 a year to file tax returns and pay social security taxes. Farmers who do not clear $400, but whose total farm sales are at least $600, may report this income and pay social security tax on it under special provisions for farmers only, and thus earn credit for low ar no profit years. In order to make proper reports, farmers should keep accurate records of their intreacherous

road conditions, chains may be the only thing that can start arid stop your car effectively. "Regardless of which you buy, shop early in the season. Prices tend to climb at the first sign of snow."
