Tommy Williams of Castleton and Gloria Durden of Sperryville were named outstanding 4-H boy and girl Friday night. These were an nounced at the annual Rappahannock 4-H Achievement program held in Washington, Each was presented with an award from the Rappahannock National Bank. Upwards 150 persons also saw Sandra Foster and George Powers of Flint Hill, and Janet Yates of Sperryville received into the honor club in a ceremony. as a climax to the Achievement Awards Program. Tommy has taken several 4-H projects since he enter* ed 4-H nearly five years ago. .These have included forestry electricity, beef heifer and beef cow. He has been vicepresident of the county 4-H council and has held several club offices. Last year he also Represented the county at the 4-H Electric Congress in Richfnond.
Two 4-H alumni were recognized. Mrs. Lee Thornton County Health Nurse, and Mr. T. V. Williams of Castelton w e r e honored with awards /from a national donor. Boys Leadership awards were presented to Donald G. ^Williams of Chester Gap and Tommy Williams. Donald was president of the County 4-H Council last year. Girl lead ,ership winners were Patsy Moretfe and Amy Palmer. Earl Yancy, Jr. and Ann Cannon won Public Speaking Awards. Citizenship awards went to flarold Walker and Alletta Bee , be. General 4-H Achievement Awards were presented to Ann .'Cannon, Susan Dodson, Harold jWalker, and George Powers. ■■ Agricultural Awards went to C. G. Thornhill, Jr., Tommy Williams, and Nelson Putnam, i Donald Deal and Deborah ^Pullen won Recreation Award. The General Foods Kitchen Cook Book was awarded to Gloria Durden. The Danforth Leadership “I .Dare You” Award this year went to Lonnie Williams and •'Sandra Foster. w. *
