The Madison Center of the Un iversity of Virginia School of General Studies is presently experiencing the well-publicized increase in-the number of Virginia students who a re seeking college admission. A recent survey indicates that 00% more applications have been received for the coming academic year than had been receiv ed as of the same date last year. Commenting on the outlook for next fall, Maurice S. Matthews. Acting Director, said that the Center is expanding its college credit program for the coming session in order that more applicants may be accept ed. Space is available for June graduates who present the necessary high school background and standard test scores of such levels as to indicate success in college work. In addition to the college program, the Center also accepts applications from a limit ed number of students who need preparatory work before attempting college credit studies. Students who need such preparatory work may, if they are successful in their work, present that work for consideration for admission by a degree-granting college or university.
