Forester William C. Vernam of the Virginia Division of Forestry reports that loblolly pine seedlings are still available for planting this spring in Rappahannock County. These trees may be purchased by landowners in Rappahannock County at a cost of $4.50 per thousand seedlings. Trees are sold for reforestation of abandtJhed land and cutover woodland. 19,000 loblolly pine trees were planted in Rappahannock County during the spring planting season last year. Many of these trees were planted on cutover woodland tracts to replace cull oaks and other low value slow growing hardwoods as shown in the picture.
