The careless litterbug cost Rappahannock taxpayers $1,805.77 last year, according to figures released this week by Virginia Department of Highways. This compares with $5,146.30 in Culpeper County; $8,238.87 in Fauquier County; $1,977.21 in Greene County; $2,011.62 in Madison County; and $2,441.32 for Orange County. The Culpeper District in which the above are included, contains 14 counties. Highest cost of roadside cleanup for 1963-64 was reported in Fairfax County where the total was $64,600.61. Expenses for the whole district amounted to nearly $125,000. State cleanup crews report collecting 1,781 assorted beer cans and liquor bottles discarded along a one-mile section of Route 626 in Fauquier County.
