Cancer Control Month
Governor Albertis S. Harrison,Jr., urged every Virginia citizen to observe April as Cancer Control Month and to protect himself from cancer by proper precautions through out the year, in a statement issued today in support of the American Cancer Society’s an nual Crusade in Virginia. In his statement, the Governor said: “Through research and new techniques, at least half of those who develop the dreaded disease of cancer today can be saved provided a diagnosis is made early, and prompt and proper treatment applied. "If we can rely on past experience, approximately 10,000 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in Virginia during the current year. Many of these can be arrested and those affected restored to healthy lives if cancer’s seven danger signals are kept in mind and regular check-ups scheduled. “This is the message the VirMrs.

G. Hackley and children Janet and Larry. Mrs. Gladys Scott, who has spent some time in the Zinn home, returned Sunday to her home in Takoma Park, Md. She was accompanied by Mrs. Ira Harden who will pay an extended visit. Mrs. W. R. Bowen was an afternoon visitor Saturday of Mrs. Sarah Latham and family Visitors Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Smith were Mr. and Mrs. George Kidwell. Sunday evening callers were Mrs. J. L. Walter and Mrs. A. C. Latham.
