According to the legend brought to America by the early settlers from Germany and Great Brltlan the ground hog is the weather prognosticator to watch this week to see if spring weather is near at hand. It seems that if the furry animal came out of his hole yesterday and saw his shadow then he was so frightened that he will scurry back for six more weeks. If on the other hand he didn’t see his shadow, then he will go forth in search of food as he thinks that spring is on its way. Scientist’s have not verified the accuracy of the ground hog's behavior and since our winter has only begun to assert itself in the last few weeks it seems improbable that the highly touted weather authority was able to burrow Its way out.
