Luther L. Folden of Luray has achieved the distinction of having devoted 30 years of service to Shenandoah National Park. Folden received recognition for his work performance at a recent Park staff meeting during which he received his 30-year Lengthof Service pin from Superintendent R. Taylor Hoskins. As foreman of roads and trails, Folden has charge of that activity in the North Dis trict of the Park extending from the North Entrance at Froi$ Sj £U.4Us first fssJgnmeTir irTShefllndoah was in 1935 with the Bureau of Public Roads during the construction of a portion of Skyline Drive. In 1937 he transferred tQ Shenandoah and held positions of tractor opera tor, maintenance foreman, laborer foreman, and mixed gang foreman before attaining his present position in 1959. Folden was born in Thaxton, Bedford County, Virginia, and moved to Luray in 1935. Prior to that time he was employed, for the most part in construe tion activity, in various Virginia areas. Folden and his wife, Mary, reside at 425 East Main Street.
