The purpose of the test is to find, and later to use, bulls with outstanding growth potential, and those with good solid beefy appearance. Genetic studies at Front Royal and elsewhere have shown that these traits are inherited, and that a breeder can change the performance levels of his own herd by using a bull with good growth, good type or both.
