Dear Madam Editor: 1 am genuinely grateful for the helpful observations made and the pertinent questions raised last week by Perturbed. The future of our elementary school education in this county will be greatly influenced for years to come, by the kind Of wisdom which goes Into the decision to enlarge our educational plant. I am disturbed and to some x degree threatened, when I realize that the public is asked to vote on this, without having been given the benefit of the many factors and considerations involved, which must be considered by any thoughtful; person, if the decision is to be a sound one. The omission of these from the ballot may facilitate handling, but this over-simplicity acts as a facade, which to me performs the same function as a halloween mask. . .it obscures the true identity. ' Therefore, to use this ballot In its present form as a measure of public opinion on this vital. topic, might well not measure public opinion at all. In reality it may be a vote for the lower tax rate only. The questions raised in last week’s letter from Perturbed has provided an outline for study of this topic, for interested citizens, so that they may secure data on which to base their decision. It is as true today as on the day the statement was first uttered: •equity aids the vigilant*. The real burden for sound decisions rests on every one of us, to “seek the truth, come whence it may, cost what it will*.
