Pottery is fired in ti { (!ectric kiln in the right background. For bisque firing the oven temperature reaches 1830 degrees F. Then fa slowly cooled and the pottery which has been hardened by the firing is glazed by pouring or by dipping as Miss Jordan is doing here. Many variations can be achieved. After this the clay ware is returned to thq kiln, heated to a temperature of 2175 degrees and again cooled slowly. With this the pottery is smooth and waterproof. The kiln is 8 cubic feet and holds about 100 average size pots. Each firing takes about 12 hours
