Fire Destroys Home
A fire early Monday morning destroyed a one story house owrted by Claude M. Gaines located on Route 644 between Reva and Slate Mills. All personal effects of the Gaines family were also lost in the blaze. Mr. Gaines, who was home alone, escaped the flames uninjured, but was unable to save even his clothing. He had to get clothes from a son, C. M. Gaines, who lived nearby. Mrs, Gaines was at work in Alexandria at the time of the fire. Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department responded to the alarm but the fire was too far advanced to save the dwelling. Cause of the blaze ,has not been determined.
