Hie annual Virginia State Championship Coon dog water race will be held Labor Day, Sept. 5 at the Joe Stewart Pond, Christiansburg. The event, which will start at 12 noon, promises to be bigger than any in the past. Many more entries are being received this year, in the state, as well as out-of-state. Coon dog water racing is gaining fast in popularity for the sportsmen who enjoy real thrilling competition. The event is sponsored by the Blue Ridge Coon Hunters and Sportsman’s Club of Montgomery County. Twelve trophies will be awarded. Six will be for "line' dogs and six for ’’tree” dogs.
