Veterans Day Service
A Veterans Day Service will be held Friday, November 11 at Washington Baptist Church. The church will be open all day for anyone wishing to go in and from 11 a.m. until 12 noon a program of prayers and music will be held. The Rev. Ray Williams, pastor of the church, will be in charge with a program of organ music presented by Arthur Cheatham.
Banks Declare Two Holidays Next Week
week. According to C. J. Miller, Jr. the Rappahannock National Bank at Washington will be closed Tuesday, November 8 for election day and again Friday, November 11 for Veterans Day. Citizens National Bank, Flint Hill Branch, will also be closed on both of these days, said John S. Browning.
No Injuries in Saturday Traffic Crash
There were no injuries in a traffic crash early Saturday morning when two vehicles sideswiped on Route 211 three miles west of Amissville. Earl Lee Jenkins of Castleton operating a 65 Rambler station wagon was heading east following another vehicle when he pulled to the left to see if the way was clear to pass. In so doing he struck an oncoming vehicle, a 64 Ford owned and operated by William Joseph Evans of Vienna, Va. The Evans car was knocked off the rbad and damaged to the extent of $75. Damage to the Jenkins vehicle was estimated at $250 and he was charged with reckless driving according to a report filed by the investigating officer.

In Reforestation
Forester William C. Vernam of the Virginia Division of Forestry reports that the people of the State of Virginia can take pride in their reforestation effort for 1965 and place a broom at the masthead for a job well done. Recent figures released in the U. S. Department of Agriculture 1965 report on “Forest Tree Planting and Seeding in the United States* reveals that of all the states Virginia ranks 6th in the number of acres planted (73,802 acres); 3rd in the number of acres of privately owned land planted (71,066 acres); 3rd in the number of tree seedl.ngs produced (42,500,000 trees); 7th in the number of acres direct seeded with pine seed (8,606 acres); 3rd in the number of acres of State owned land devoted to producing superior tree seed (87 acres).
