Firemen from most areas in Rappahannock County met Friday, October 28 at the fi»-e hall in Flint Hill to discuss the possibility of organizing a county fire associatio n Five departments in the county were represented: Sperryville, Flint Hill, Amissville, Chester Gap and Castleton. Thirty-three firemen attended and discussed the need of such an organization, the potential and possible service which could be rendered. Feeling that such an organization is worthwhile the following officers were elected: President, Paul Poling, Amissville; vice president, Charles Gasch, Castleton; Secretary, Hubert Gilkey, Chester Gap; treasurer, H. S. Barksdale, Flint Hill; and Chaplain, Edward Clark, Flint Hill. A committee was appointed to study and draft by-laws. This was headed by Robert F. Estes, Sperryville and includes Paul Miller, Flint Hill, Joe Williams, Chester Gap, Ralph Rowzie, Amissville and
James Moss, Cafctleton. A follow up meeting will be held November 18 at 8 p.m. at Castleton. Any member of any company is invited to attend.
