In March 1966, he found an opportunity to get a job that paid $200 per month for a sixhour day. He took the job on April 1, 1966, and worked the remainder of the year. His total wages were $200 per month for 9 months or $1,800. Mr. Public will get all social security for January through March 1966, because he did not earn over $125 in those months. He may have $1 in social security benefits withheld for each $2 he earned over $1,500, or one half of $300 ($150). Once a person reaches age 72 there is no earnings limit at all.
