FEEDER PIG PRICES - The most recent sale report, from the Richmond Sale held December 21st, 1966, shows per head prices asfollows: No. l’s at 60 lbs, to be $16.18, No. 2’s at 55 lbs. to be $13.74; medium <a 57 lbs. to be $11.57 and No. 3’s at 70 lbs. to be $14.22.
Feeder pig sales will continue at Culpeper Enterprises in 1967. Sales are usually held on the third Tuesday of each odd numbered month. Nominations are due about a month ahead of each sale. Contact this office if you are not getting regulations and nomination forms regularly.
************ Research has proven without question that four pounds of a 16% daily grayin ration to be ideal for pregriant sows during the 114 day gestation period. Feed more and you add to your feed cost and reduce the litter size, feeding less also reduced the size of litter and increases the number of weak pigs. This four pound feeding rate of course applies to sows in good thrifty condition. A sow that is fat at the beginning of her gestation period could get by with a shade less feed while one that is very thin likely should have a little more feed.
