FHA Sets Meet
Jan. 4-5 in Roanoke
All Virginia employees of the Farmers Home Administration will hear National Administrator Howard W. Bertsch of Washington discuss current and new objectives of
agenby at a two-day meeting in Roanoke, January 4-5, says Joseph B. Keesee, county supervisor of the Culpeper office.
The Culpeper office will be closed from 1:00p.m. January 3 through January 5, while personnel attend this meeting. The agency serves farmers and other rural residents with credit and technical help in farm and money management problems.
Among the other opening day speakers will be E. C. Compton, state director of the agency, William M. Corwin of Southern States Cooperative, and Dr. Marshall T. Hahn, president of V. P. I. who will speak on the role of the State Land-Grant University in rural development. Commissioner Maurice B. Rowe will discuss the activities of Virginia Department of Agriculture and Commerce, and S. Mason Carbaugh will speak on the Commission of the Industry of Agriculture. The principal speaker at the evening program on opening day will be State Senator Wil liam V. Rawlings. Senator Raw lings was recently selected as "1966 Man of the Year in Service to Virginia Agriculture,*, by the Progressive Farmers magazine. He is a Southampton County farmer whose main business is raising peanuts, grain and livestock. Governor Godwin has appointed him to the Virginia Commission of the Industry of Agriculture and he is chairman of the committee charged with determining the potentials of Old Domilion agriculture and for making recommendations for achieving these potentials.
