BANGS VACCINATIONS were very low in 1966. In fact I can’t recall whether the number of head vaccinated was ever lower in this county. The most recent issue of the Livestock Health Bulletin shows but 62.8% of our heifer calves were vaccinated against this dreaded disease. No doubt feed shortage had a great deal of influence on re ducing the number of heifers kept by cattlemen for herd replacements which could be reflected in the number we vaccinated, however this prac tice is considered a valuable step in merchandising live stock to be marketed. In so far as our county rank is concerned we did pretty well; 2nd only to Culpeper as of November 1st. Next county-wide vaccination will be scheduled in March.
