World War II veterans have about seven months left to take advantage of G.I. guaranteed or insured loans. July 25, 1967 is the deadline. Eligibility for World War II veterans is determined by a formula which adds ten years to the date of their last discharge plus ^one year for each 90 days of service. The eligibility for many has already expired, but the July 25, 1967 date is the cutoff for all other World War II veterans. Veterans who were discharged for a service-connected disability and the widows of such veterans will be eligible •up to the July 25, 1967 deadline.
For veterans of the Korean Conflict the. formula for determining G.I. loan eligibility is the same as for veterans of World War II. However, the Korean Conflict entitlement did not begin to expire until 1976. Edward M. Mathews, of the Front Royal Office of the Division of War Veterans’ Claims, is in Washington at the Clerk's Office on 1st and 3rd Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and will gladly give more details on this subject or any other matter connected with veteran’s affairs.

Great Lakes, ILL. (FHTNC) Dec. 22 — Seaman Recruit Claes G. Tholand, 20, USN, son of Mr. and. Mrs. Nils K. G. Tholand of Piedmont Farm, Sperryville, has been graduated from nine weeks of Navy basic training at the Naval Training Center here. In the first weeks of his naval service he studied military subjects and lived and worked under conditions similar to those he will encounter on his first ship or at his first shore station.
In making the transition from civilian life to Naval service, he received instruction under veteran Navy petty officers. He studied seamanship, as well as survival techniques, military drill and other subjects.
