Driver Education
Program - Progress
A Driver Education program is underway in Rappahannock County. Classroom instruction was given at Rappahannock County High School during the previous school term and behind the wheel instruction is being given this summer. About 14 students are participating in the summer instruction program. Gerald Fawley of Front Royal is the certified driver training instructor of the volunteer program. A 1967 Plymouth Fury III has been provided by Russell Brothers, Inc. of Flint Hill for use in the program. Dual controls were provided by the School Board and installed by Russell Brothers. Funds for operationand maintenance of the vehicle are given by the state, as well as the instructors salary. A small fee is paid by participating students. This is the first time a driver education program has been of fered here, and if sufficient interest is shown by students, it will continue.
