The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors refused to grant an exception to the Subdivision Ordinance at a special meeting held last Wednesday, May 15 at the courthouse. The vote was unanimous on the request for excep tion made by Charles Rist, the owner of a ski area development, Charnita, Pa. Mr. Rist asked the Boa^d to lower the subdivision street requirements. He asked permission for road widths to be reduced from. 20 feet to 16 feet, to raise grade requirements from 10% to 25% and the preparation base be cut from 6 inches to 4 inches. He stated that his plans called for a 2,000 acre subdivision and recreation area comi posed of approximately 3,000 one half acre lots. James Skeens, Resident Highway Engineer, stated that such sub-standard streets could never be taken into the state highway system.
