Colorful Display of
Plant Life in Park
A combination of rains and warm sunshine has brought on a colorful display of plant life in Shenandoah National Park, Superintenden R. Taylor Hoskins reported today. Lower elevations afford a more colorful display at this time although the mountain slopes are taking on the hues of early spring, according to Hoskins. Most noticeable in the mountain valleys are columbine, showy orchis, wild geranium, wild strawberries, Dyers woad^ princess tree, and black locust; while the upper slopes feature trillium, toothwort, black cherry, wild ginger, pink and yellow lady slipper, and wild phlox. Pres ent in both lower and higher elevations are wild azalea, violets, Jack-in-the-Pulpits, and bluets. If weather cooperates, Hoskins said, the next several days should bring on a good
